The Good,The Bad and The Ugly (Posted By Coach)

Dear players,
I am very sorry to inform you, but I have decided to withdraw Westlanders from the D2D league. Mainly, there are two predominant reasons.
Reason 1:
The organizer wants us to play a rematch against La Familia Uno because we did not comply with FIFA rules, which is to play at least 30 mins before a game could be called off.Furthermore, the organizer kept mocking us for the past incidents in the past season where Jagan spat on the referee and other infamous incidents. They blame us for almost every fight that happened. The organizer also has a bad image on us in his mind. That’s why whatever reasons we gave to support the truth was ignored by the organizer. We are not in the fault and yet the organizers kept holding responsible on us which made me feel very bad and disheartened by the blind remarks. We all knew Hyrul was a victim in the incident but the organizer totally ignored that incident and blamed us for the fight which we did not start. As a coach it is my duty to take care of the players and the team image. I personally decided to withdraw from the league where we are not respected and trusted. I hope all the players would understand my decision and stand along it for a better future in our team.
Reason 2:
$ Team Fund $ $985.With these amount we could have bought a new set of jerseys for ourselves and there will still be remaining money in our team fund kept by me. This is the amount yet to be settled by our players. Last week, we only collected $43.The rest I had to fork out from my pocket. I don’t mind paying for the team at crucial times but this is happening all the time. I cannot be paying all the time for the team. You guys should have the responsibility to pay up also. Can you all recall what sasi posted on our blog? If not, go read that post again. I am very disappointed with the team’s attitude. Just imagine what if I don’t have any cash in my pocket last week. What would have happened? We would have embarrassed ourselves in front of the referee, opponents and mainly the organizer who is already thinking we are a bad team. We can’t even collect $100 per game. From last season onwards, Mostly, I have been paying the remaining balance. I am currently unemployed but still I did pay the outstanding for u all. How? Did the money fall from the sky? I too have to do my part in contributing to Westlanders.
If an unemployed man like me can do it? What can’t you? Think about it…
I am sick and tired repeating these every single week.Reshi is a good example here. He initially owed $97.The same time some of you all owed $90 to $120.But today, He completed his fund and also paid one week in advance. He told me in one of the games that he saved up weekly and avoided spending unnecessarily from his allowances to pay for the team. This is the spirit I expected from the rest. I was touched by his committed act towards the team. Please guys…Please pay up your balance. I cannot keep on answering the other players who are regularly paying.
I’ll make sure we will be back in a different league where it is definitely better than the previous league. Before we go into the new league, I have to do some changes in the team I.e. Formations and Fitness, Discipline. We have lost many good players and have new players yet to settle down in our team formations. Due to that, I need to have trainings with the full squad so that I can make changes in the team. We will be having training the next couple of weeks at Ang Mo Kio Field at 4pm Saturdays. I just started my work and on Saturdays I am still working, but I will rush to the venue after my work as it is nearer to my place. You guys shouldn’t have any problem because we have been travelling every week around Singapore for games. Be punctual. Whoever is later than me; have to run 5 rounds around the field before joining the training.
Please take note, if you cannot make it; please inform me by Wednesday night. If you cannot contact me, leave a message in this blog. I will only excuse certain people other than that I want the whole team to be in the field by 4pm.Team fund will still continue…Please use this period to pay up (Esp. those who owe a lot) and brush up your fitness before our next tournament begins. I am very serious about the upcoming tornament; I want to prove that Westlanders is the best of the best. We can do it…We have the talent. We are the rising stars…
See you all this Saturday! Be ready for hell of a training!
NO MORE MR NICE GUY!

Westlanders Utd vs EUFC
Tanglin 4pm
We are taking on Eufc, the current league leaders after beating La familia Uno 2-1. Westlanders are well-known for delivering surprises against top teams.Nevertheless, our full concentration should be on beating them this saturday. We are on a relatively good form after beating Royals 1-0.However, we should not take Eufc lightly. They are a good team and have beaten us 2-1 very uncomfortably.Although, we gave them a good fight in Clementi woods, this time the end-results are more important. Interestingly, Westlanders have ever losed in Tanglin. Hope, Lady Luck is also on our side… Please be at the field by 4pm as usual.Wear your training kit to the field. Most importantly, bring your team fund.We cannot expect Coach or the regulars to keeping paying all the time.

Enough of admin matters. We can beat our next opponents if we put in our heart. We drew with them the last time we met.
Defence was sloppy and attack was predictable. That shouldn't be the case this time.

Post by Sasi

Dear friends, Firstly, I would to congratulate the team on its first win of the tournament. However, I would like to mention another very important matter. Please don't classfiy what I am going to say as a mere repetition. I don't know whether anyone noticed in yesterday's meeting when coach suggested to hyrul that the team fund would pay for his medical expenses if the need arises. It was then only, I realised the true reason why we (or most significantly, I) pay the team fund. I originally thought I was just paying for the sake of it; to just be in the team. However, when coach mentioned that statement, it changed my wrong perception forever. We got to admit that we are just the usual neighbourhood team with no proper facilities or benefits that a professional team has. We are playing matches in & out every week. (ToUCHWOOD)Anything could happen to us(ToUCHWOOD). We get "slided", we get "tackled" and vice versa. Some could be harmless, some could put us out the game. The only resource we could depend on and that, that is of our right is our team fund. We know owe in the hundreds'. Imagine if this was paid up, we could have a very safe and secure amount that could/would help any of us in any dire circumstances (something like insurance money or medisave). For example, Imagine we had that much of money, we could have paid for adly's fracture. So please, whenever you entertain about not paying your team fund, think of us or.. rather think about yourselves. If you had laid down seriously injured, how are you going to pay for medical expenses?. Remember, Small things make up the Big picture. If you don't take your health seriously and thus don't care about paying your bit of the team fund. Then you can forget about the team paying for your medical issues when the need arises. Try not to ignore this message and try to understand what i am trying to say. Choices do have consequences. Sasitheran S/O Rama Moorthy

La Familia Uno 0 vs 1 Westlanders Utd (Jagan)
[Game called off]
First of all, Coach would like to appreciate and applaud us for our good performance and not giving up in the game. He was very happy with the performance even though the game was called off due to bad behavior by the opponents. He also added that we should work on our discipline to a better level. I am sure we have learned today that patience can do us favours.Hope; we apply our discipline every week in and out. We are not hooligans, we are soccer players. But, this is just the beginning. Although, we performed better, we should not forget the fact that our opponents were 2 men down. We should take this game as a stepping stone and move on to perform better as a team and produce good results. We have a lot more to learn and understand. Furthermore, we as a team have promised Coach to carry out our 2 task effectively. 100 percent Commitment from heart and paying up Team fund. Let’s not rest on our laurels and take this game as a morale booster to further spur us into the league.

Game infomation

La Familia Uno vs Westlanders Utd
Clementi Woods 4pm
Everybody is expected to bring 10 dollars as team fund because last week you guys did not bring any money so we now owe the organiser 200 dollars in total.People like Jagan and Kumar did not inform coach anything and went missing. They let us down last week making us play with 11 players exactly. The players who played against Padang Botak should know how we felt. Please wear your training kit and be at clementi woods field by 4pm sharp. Please inform coach if you cannot make it latest by Wednesday if not we take it that you are coming.I don't know why is it very hard for players to inform even simple things like this! After the game this week, you have to stay back as Coach needs to make some announcements.

Knowlegde is Power

Westlanders,For those who are still unsure about formations and how it works. Here are some tips.I ran through the internet and found some useful notes, particularly the formations Westlanders use frequently.I hope this is useful and can improve our performance in the field.Any contradictions here can be voiced out to coach to clarify your doubts.
This adaptable soccer formation is the most common in football today.
The midfielders are required to work hard to support both the defense and the attack: one of the central midfielders is expected to go up field as often as possible to support the forward pair, while the other will play a "holding role", shielding the defense; the two wide midfield players must move up the flanks to the goal line in attacks and yet also protect the fullback wide defenders.
The 4-3-3 was a development of the 4-2-4, and was played by the Brazilian national team in the 1962 World Cup. The extra player in midfield allowed a stronger defense, and the midfield could be staggered for different effects. The three midfielders normally play closely together to protect the defense, and move laterally across the field as a coordinated unit. The three forwards split across the field to spread the attack, and are expected to "tackle back". When used from the start of a game, this formation is widely regarded as encouraging defensive play, and should not be confused with the practice of modifying a 4-4-2 by bringing on an extra forward to replace a midfield player when behind in the latter stages of a game.
4-5-1 could be seen as a defensive formation, however if the two midfield wingers play a more attacking role it can be likened to 4-3-3. The formation can be used to grind out 0-0 draws or preserve a lead, as the packing of the centre midfield makes it difficult for the opposition to build-up play. Because of the 'closeness' of the midfield, the opposing team's forwards will often be starved of possession. However, due to the lone striker, the centre of the midfield does have the responsibility of pushing forward as well. The defensive midfielder will often control the pace of the game. A modification of this formation is also used by José Mourinho's Chelsea F.C. side. This modified version is the 4-1-4-1 where only one striker is used and the wingers are given the responsibility of moving the ball forward and attacking. A holding midfielder is also positioned in front of the back four. This provides freedom for the rest of the team to move forward and attack as the defense will be "protected" by the holding midfielder.
This formation has three central defenders (possibly with one acting as a sweeper.) This system is heavily reliant on the wing-backs providing width for the team. The two wide full-backs act as wing-backs. It is their job to work their flank along the full length of the pitch, supporting both the defense and the attack.
* Germany adopted this formation between 1990 and 1994, winning the 1990 World Cup

Save up $$$

The financial burden is increasing for Westlanders especially when last week only $46 dollars was collected. Coach had to cover up the rest. The situation for now is even worse. We now have 4 players fewer in our team, which is damage financially and team overall. I am urging all our players to pay up regularly to cover up the deficit. Be considerate and start saving now…
(Those with * are expected to pay more than 5 dollars each week to cover up outstanding asap.Try not to think of reasons to procrastinate, rather find ways to get the money to pay up)
Outstanding Balance (Descending Order):
*Yasser=$130 *Rp Kumar=$127 *Hyrul=$117 *Mohan=$106 *Jagan=$69 *Vasanthan=$65 *Satish=$59 *Reshi=$57 *Saktivel=$51 (Bring passport size photo)
Adly=$48 Ryan=$30
The rest do not have huge amounts =<$20
