We won our first game against RNS United with a lot of confidence in the air. We played bombastically brimming with lots of energy. It was our first game so we wanted to prove that we were a team that could cause upsets. In fact that’s what we exactly did. However, we soon realized that our first win was only the tip of the iceberg. The following game we lose to Total football 9-1.The 9-1 score line does not reflect our weakness, but our negligence and slacked football. Frankly, Total football was a great team and we were definitely overwhelmed. However the starting 11 players who played the game should know that we could have done better for the most part. The game was under control but due to defensive errors and miscommunications we were thrashed by them. We were undermined to a huge extent after that game. Our players were injured and we could not train that week due to several reasons which added salt to the wound. This made us vulnerable to another defeat, but we were not ready to give up; we knew that Westlanders is the youngest team in the entire league so we can use our vividness and the boiling young blood for more glory. We were an under-19 team playing against experienced teams from the league. Our intrepid mindset boosted us against Cheshire United. We went there with high hopes. In the first half Cheshire fielded their younger team and we were leading 1-0.In contrast, 2nd half they brought in their stronger experienced players. We managed to play on par with them but dreadful refereeing caused us the game. Our defense was firm until we conceded a controversial penalty. Then we were dispirited and allowed another goal before the final whistle. We went down 3-1 at the end. All the while we have been digressing away from what we are supposed to do. To win games. We play good football for our ages but that’s not good enough, certainly we are not playing against teams of our ages so we have to change everything. From formations to our mindset. After the game our coach was devastated that he could not get our team on the track to victory. He taught us some useful lessons in both soccer and life. Our coach has brought us very far by now and he is still giving us all the support we need to blend in the league’s gene. He cracked his head hard to pinpoint to us our grave mistakes and to transform us to a better team. That was the coming-of-age moment. All the while we were not sophisticated to this league. We need more then energy and our young vibrant minds. Predominantly, the nemesis was within us. Westlanders individually committed completely and trained a lot from our Coach Sam for the optimum alteration. We soon found the esprit-de-corps to triumph. We have learnt that no one can demoralize us except ourselves. We are now ready to give a fight even if we are going down. Now, thanks to CNY break. We are now more prepared after a different approached training from our coach. We are now more commited to the league. We might have let our concentration off at the start of the league, but now we are back with a more matured and malevolent attitude. We will be facing Skopet Fc this Saturday. They will be facing a more ruthless team then ever. This is a chance to revive and show our epic proportioned capabilities. We will not go off the tangent again. We do not have a glass ceiling to limit our perpetually learning team. Westlanders may have been put under baptism of fire ever since the start of the league, but now it’s our turn to lay siege. The genesis of something new has begun…
